The Plant: Jabuticaba
Jabuticaba (Plinia cauliflora) is a member of the Myrtaceae family. It is a Brazilian fruit tree native to the Atlantic Rainforest, particularly found in high-altitude rainforests and sub-forest environments.
Widely grown in gardens and backyards, its small fruits with deep purple-black skin and translucent white pulp grow directly on the trunk and branches, giving the tree a unique and striking appearance. Jabuticaba is a highly versatile fruit rich in natural nutrients, widely enjoyed fresh as well as in jellies, ice creams, and traditional beverages.
