EcoVadis

EcoVadis is one of the leading global sustainability assessment platforms, covering environmental, labor, human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement criteria. ASSESSA has participated in the reporting process since 2020, continually facing increasingly demanding criteria and continuously improving its practices.

Greenhouse Gas Inventory (GHG Protocol Brazil)

ASSESSA voluntarily measures its carbon emissions annually since 2016 through its GHG Emissions Inventory, adhering to the GHG Protocol Brazil methodology. This serves as a strategic climate management tool that guides our actions to reduce emissions and advance toward our carbon neutrality goal. In 2026, we took an important step by submitting Scopes 1 and 2 of our inventory to independent third-party verification.

I-REC – Renewable Energy Certificates

Since 2023, ASSESSA proves that 100% of its consumed electricity comes from certified renewable sources. Backed by International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC), an international guarantee of the renewable origin of energy used, we neutralize indirect emissions associated with electricity, bringing our Scope 2 emissions down to zero and reinforcing our energy transition.

CDP – Carbon Disclosure Project

The CDP is an international disclosure system for environmental reporting on climate change, water security, and forest management. ASSESSA has reported transparently since 2023 in compliance with global benchmarks that become stricter with every cycle. Our engagement with CDP strengthens company credibility with clients and society.

COSMOS Approved Standards (ECOCERT & Cosmecert)

At ASSESSA, natural ingredients are certified under the international COSMOS Approved standard by independent bodies such as ECOCERT and Cosmecert. This guarantees botanical origin purity, green chemistry processing, solvent-free extraction, and transparent compliance for natural/organic cosmetics.

UN Global Compact & Strategic Movements

United Nations Global Compact

In 2025, ASSESSA marked a fundamental milestone in its sustainability journey by becoming a signatory to the UN Global Compact. This initiative invites companies to align strategies and operations with ten universal principles across Human Rights, Labor, Environment, and Anti-Corruption.

By joining, we reaffirm our intent not only to follow but to embed these principles into our corporate DNA. This commitment elevates our transparency and governance standards while allowing us to participate in collective movements that amplify our engagement in strategic sustainability topics.

Movimento Ambição Net Zero

Net Zero Ambition Movement

A commitment to lowering greenhouse gas emissions and aligning operations with long-term climate neutrality. Participation involves climate governance practices, indicator monitoring, and joint actions aligned with SDG 13 – Climate Action.

Movimento Conexão Circular

Circular Connection Movement

A commitment to ensuring sustainable production and consumption patterns, seeking efficient use of natural resources, reducing waste, and minimizing environmental discharge. Participation includes knowledge sharing aligned with SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production and the principles of the Circular Economy.

Environmental Stewardship & Operational Management

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory Detail

Since 2016, ASSESSA annually counts its GHG emissions inventory according to the GHG Protocol Brazil methodology. Official inventoried figures for 2024:

• Scope 1 (Direct Emissions): 35.9 t CO₂ eq (derived primarily from LPG combustion, selected for its high calorific efficiency).

• Scope 2 (Location-based Energy): 6.2 t CO₂ eq (neutralized via I-REC certified renewable energy).

• Scope 3 (Value Chain): Currently under active development for complete life-cycle quantification.

Energy, Water & Effluent Stewardship

• 100% Clean Energy: Powered by solar energy and clean sources purchased via the Free Energy Market, certified via International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-REC).

• Water Recirculation: Reject water from reverse osmosis purification is reused internally for plant sanitation, with surplus water supplied to neighboring facilities to eliminate waste.

• Industrial Wastewater: Plant effluents are directed to an integrated industrial treatment station within our industrial park, ensuring full municipal compliance prior to discharge.

🌿 Sustainable Portfolio, Green Chemistry & Circular Commitments

Green Chemistry & Biocatalysis

Pioneering water-based extraction, biotransformation, and natural biocatalysts to create highly potent ingredients without harsh chemical solvents.

Industrial Biomass Upcycling

Transforming food industry co-products (such as golden flax, chia seeds, upcycled ginger, and green coconut pulp) into high-value cosmetic bioactives.

Synthetic Replacement Solutions

Engineered plant-based alternatives that replace widely used synthetic polymers and silicones with 100% biodegradable, clean performance.

Powdered Waterless Formulations

Developing powdered bioactives that reduce water transport mass, optimizing logistics efficiency and lowering supply chain carbon footprint.

Zero-Waste Bioenergy Valorization

Vegetal and mineral production residues are sent to bioenergy landfills where generated methane is captured and converted into clean biogas.

Responsible Marine Harvesting & Fair Trade

Seaweeds are responsibly collected in Southeastern and Northeastern Brazil, supporting female-led harvester groups with minimum volumes and fair pricing.
